Yelp made some changes on Friday that will effect hoteliers. First, they have added Review Highlights to hotels listings. According to the
Yelp blog, reviews are analyzed and 'the tastiest and most relevant nuggets' are pulled out and displayed. Words that appear in a lot of reviews for the hotel are pulled out and displayed in blue. Clicking on the words allows you to see other reviews that also mention the words. (Yes, this does sound a lot like Revinate's Keyword Analysis Report.) For example, when I look at the listing for Hotel Kabuki, one review highlight is, "'The best part of our stay was the
Japanese Soaking Tub.' (in 11 reviews)" Japanese soaking tub is linked to the other 11 reviews that mention the tubs. The rating distribution will also be displayed so all consumers can quickly see how many 1,2,3,4 and 5 star reviews your hotel gets. Clicking on Rating trend will also show how ratings trend over time. Also, in an effort to get people to write more reviews, Yelp will remind users of all the places they have checked-in so they can remember to write reviews for those businesses. And finally, expect more photos as users can now upload multiple photos at one time.
